General information
Pieria is located at the southern part of Central Macedonia. Its capital is Katerini.
In Pieria, there are many archaeological sites, such as Dion, Pydna, Paliabella Kolindrou, Platamonas with its imposing castle, etc. Here there are deep ravines, around which stretch areas of special biodiversity.
In contrast to the high mountain peaks, in Pieria you will find also a magnificent coastline of about 70 kilometers, with a lot of tourist traffic in the summers!
Seaside tourist resorts such as Leptokarya, Panteleimonas, Platamonas, N. Poros, Skotina, Plaka Litochoro, Variko, Gritsa are located in an endless straight line, which runs parallel to the sea and are waiting for you to discover their beauty!
Geographical data
In Pieria you will meet the largest mountain of Greece, Olympus, the place of residence of the gods of Ancient Greece according to mythology. An imposing mountain with an altitude of 2,917 m (top of Mytikas), while it is also the second highest mountain in the Balkans, after Rila in Bulgaria.
The foothills of Mount Olympus are easily accessible mainly from the popular Litochoro which is also considered as the gateway to Mount Olympus, while some other picturesque villages of Mount Olympus are Paleos Panteleimonas, Ano Skotina, and ancient Dion, all easily and quickly accessible from Leptokarya .

The coasts of Pieria have a blue and clear sea, with a wide sandy beach and golden sand, while the waters are shallow, suitable for families with small children.
